As it is the season of giving (and Mythical Wishes), the first Christmas-seasonal event, the Winter Holiday, has arrived, providing smiles and seemingly cool battles to anticipate.
Likewise, seasonal Field Research tasks have been added to the game in which you can be awarded encounters with Ice-type and smartly dressed Pokémon. We'll look at the available Field Research tasks and rewards to be claimed during Pokémon GO's Winter Holiday event.

All Pokémon GO Winter Holiday Field Research Tasks & Rewards
Santa has arrived early in Pokémon GO as the Winter Holiday event continues, with the second part beginning on 23rd December 2022 at 10 am local time until 31st December 2022 at 8 pm local time. The Field Research tasks from the Winter Holiday Part 1 carries over with one new task added, as you'll need to spin PokéStops to receive a task.
These Field Research tasks are available for free to trainers globally and run concurrently with the Timed Research that can be claimed. Some of your favorite Pokémon get into the Festive spirit with Christmas-themed outfits, including Pikachu with valuable items like Poké Balls, Berries, and Mega Energy to be rewarded when completing specific Field Research tasks.
Before Trainers turn into Frosty the Snowman from the cold, let's look at the Field Research tasks and rewards available to complete for Pokémon GO's Winter Holiday event according to information from Pokémon source Leek Duck:
Winter Holiday Part 1 Field Research (1/1):
- Catch five Ice-type Pokémon:
- Poké Ball x5
- Pinap Berry x3
- Razz Berry x3
- Ultra Ball x3
- Catch seven Ice-type Pokémon: Seel* or Shellder* Encounter
- Catch five various Pokémon species: Spheal* or Stantler wearing a Holiday outfit* (Part 1 task)
- Catch five various Pokémon species: Cubchoo wearing a Holiday ribbon, Delibird wearing a Holiday ribbon, or Eevee wearing a Holiday hat* (Part 2 task)
- Catch ten various Pokémon species: Jynx* Encounter
- Hatch one Egg: Sneasel* Encounter
- Open five Gifts: Alolan Vulpix* Encounter
- Send three Gifts with a sticker added to each: Crabrawler Encounter and Abomasnow Mega Energy x25.
- Send five Gifts to friends: Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit*
- Win a Raid: Glaceon* wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit
All the Pokémon encounters you can earn as rewards for doing the Field Research tasks can appear in their Shiny forms (*) and be encountered in other activities during the Winter Holiday Part 1 event. Additionally, some Pokémon sporting new festive looks, with Pikachu, Spheal, Stantler, Cubchoo, Delibird, and the Eevee evolutionary line (Eeeveelution) donning Holiday-themed costumes you can encounter.
It can be encountered in three-star Raids alongside Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit. Cobalion will be the featured Raid Boss in five-star Raids, and you can face off against Mega Glalie in Mega Raids available until 23rd December 2022 at 10 am local time.
Lastly, the event-exclusive Timed Research is available for you to claim and complete to be gifted with various rewards. As such, you'll need to purchase the event ticket from the in-game Shop for $5,00 or the equivalent of your local currency and claim the research before 31st December 2022 at 8 pm local time.
