Kinetic Games has released the Phasmophobia Ascension update and with it a reset to players progression.
The full patch notes can be found on the link, but here's a main snippet on how the developers are treating the changes to progression:
PROGRESSION
A new levelling system has been added, with new rates of progression, new unlocks, and a prestige system.
For this system to function, all current players have been reset to Prestige 1, level 1, this way you can continue to play with your unlocked difficulties and locations. New players will start at Prestige 0, level 1.
Upon launching the game for the first time after updating, you will be presented with a new screen to choose a unique badge with options based on your pre-update level. Once saved, this is un-editable so choose carefully!
That's right, Kinetic Games has announced their new update for Phasmophobia and it's coming this Thursday.
As announced on the developer's various social channels, the new update is called Ascension, and it's due to go live in less than 48 hours. It's also possible that this is when the big progression update will finally go live.
At the time of writing, we don't have any official patch notes, but we'd imagine they'll be released shortly, so stay tuned for details of everything new coming to the game!
Kinetic Games' Phasmophobia is finally coming to consoles for Early Access - including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Playstation VR - in August 2023, according to a trailer released on 13th June 2023. The trailer was revealed during Xbox Showcase Extended 2023.
Whilst unconfirmed, it's possible the big impending reset could arrive along with (or just before) this sizeable new update to the game.
When Is The Phasmophobia Wipe and Progression Reset?
According to the official Phasmophobia Roadmap, Update v0.9 is set to release sometime in Q1 2023. Phasmophobia's developers have stated that the game's progression reset will come with the next major update, update 9.0. Update 9.0, according to the roadmap, is slated for release in Q1 2023. Q1 starts on 1 January and ends 31 March, so it's likely that we will receive the update in the next month or so if developers stick to their published roadmap.
Depending on how much you level up your character before the wipe, you'll get a special badge with unique material and color. It's unknown whether Kinetic Games will immediately release the prestige badges in the new update, or if they're coming in the future.
While we don't have an official release date from Kinetic Games yet for the Phasmophobia progression reset update, we'll probably hear one from developers soon, especially since they've just recently provided us with some interesting sneak peeks about the upcoming changes. It's unlikely that developers would release a total progression wipe without warning players a few days in advance to give them a little bit of time to prepare.
Phasmophobia is in Early Access, so the game frequently sees changes - such as new difficulty levels - and it's possible that this update might not come as soon as players hope. In any event, we'll be here to update you on the Phasmophobia progression wipe so you can know when it is and prepare yourself for the changes that are just over the horizon.
