Are you experiencing a low frame rate (fps) and stuttering in Palworld on Xbox Series X/S consoles? Then you are not alone!
In our first eight hours of exploring Palpagos Island, we didn't run into any bugs, but the Palworld performance on our Xbox Series X was less than ideal, to say the least. Join us as we explain how we got Palworld to run better on a console.
How To Fix Low Palworld FPS in Xbox Series X/S
As soon as we entered the open world of Palworld, we experienced quite a bit of stuttering as a result of low frames-per-second just as we left the starting cave. After some texture pop-ins and standing still for a while, then rebooting our console, we realized that the low frame rate was a clear issue with Pocketpair's highly-successful open-world survival/crafting title.
Throughout our first eight hours with the game, stuttering and lag persisted, even in single-player mode (which performs better than Palworld multiplayer, by the way), so we came up with a couple of things Xbox Series X/S players can try.
Below, you will find the two steps you can take to get some better performance out of Palworld on Xbox Series X/S.
- From the graphics menu, turn off Motion Blur (this effect does affect performance a bit).
- Don't touch the field-of-view (FOV) slider! We increased the FOV as a habit, but it greatly affected our frame rate even when it increased by just a value of five (5).
Please note: We found that closing and restarting Palworld completely on Xbox following these settings adjustments is a must, as it seems the changes didn't apply without a proper restart.
Graphics options in Palworld on the console are very limited. Keep in mind that the game is in "early access," aka Game Preview on Xbox consoles. At the time of writing, the developers have not pushed out the first post-launch update, and it is still early days, so we have hopes the lag, performance issues and stuttering will be fixed in due course.

The developer, Pocketpair, is aware of the Palworld performance issues on Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC. Hopefully, they will push out some updates soon to alleviate the stuttering, lag, and low fps issues.
