Get ready to buckle up for a new Overwatch limited-time event, New Blood Challenge, arriving this month. Centred around Cole Cassidy, the event will allow players to unlock a new skin and more.
The event arrives just weeks following the rebranding of the hero formerly known as McCree. This rebranding has been months in development according to Blizzard, which comes in light of ongoing disputes at Activision Blizzard.
Here’s what we know about the upcoming event, New Blood Challenge from the start and end date, rewards and format.

The Overwatch New Blood Challenge will run for two weeks from 9th to 23rd November 2021. The limited-time event will likely start around 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm BST based on previous events including the Halloween Terror.
Overwatch’s New Blood Challenge event rewards
As with every Overwatch event, the New Blood Challenge will reward players with three cosmetic items upon completion. These will include a hero icon, spray and skin for the newly renamed hero.
The teaser trailer didn’t provide much information other than what the new hero skin will look like. Featuring a yellow colour palette, likely for camouflaging, the skin also features a neck scarf to mask his appearance.
Overwatch’s New Blood Challenge event format
Much like previous Overwatch events, players will be tasked with playing several mini-games to earn progression points. These points will grant players the chance to earn event-exclusive rewards focused on the hero. Once players have completed the mini-games, a hero skin for Cassidy will be unlocked; however, we have yet to determine the name of the skin.
Blizzard has stated previously that plans for a narrative arc for Cassidy were initially meant to start in September but those plans were delayed. The narrative arc is set to place a spotlight on the cowboy hero with a brand new story and in-game content.
With the event finally arriving this week, it’s finally time for high noon with Cole Cassidy in the New Blood Challenge.
