It's been a long time coming, but Overwatch 2 is slowly coming together. With a beta starting this April and confirmation that Overwatch League 2022 would be played in a pre-build of the sequel, fans are hopeful a full release isn't so far away.

As development continues, Blizzard Entertainment has finally dropped a full breakdown of Sojourn, the first (and only) Overwatch 2 hero that was confirmed to debut with the launch of the sequel.

Sojourn, a new DPS hailing from Canada, is described as a high-skill ceiling character by Senior Hero Designer Josh Noh. Her main gimmick will revolve around her Railgun, which has different properties compared to other hitscan or projectile DPS heroes.

"Sojourn can be a difficult hero to play—the more accurate your aim, the more effective you're going to be with her Railgun, resulting in a high skill ceiling with a lot of power weighted in her Railgun’s secondary fire."

Let's take a deeper look into all Sojourn abilities in Overwatch 2.

Sojourn is built as a mid-range DPS hero, with amazing mobility and disruption capabilities. Her main weapon is the Railgun, which has two firing options.

The first one is a rapid-fire projectile-based function that generates energy on impact. That energy is stored into a "high-impact" shot that deals massive damage.

To compliment her main damage options, Sojourn has access to her Power Slide, which allows her to shift her momentum from sliding and utilising it as a high jump. A great repositioning and escape tool.

Her Disruptor Shot is a perfect AoE ability to break tightly knit enemy teams. It deals a small amount of damage but more importantly, it slows them down, making them prime targets for Sojourn's railgun.

Finally, her ultimate, Overclock, empowers Sojourn's railgun even further. It allows the weapon to auto-charge and its charged shots pierce multiple times.

Designer Miranda Moyer, who wrote most of the character's voice lines, describes her as a total perfectionist, with her playstyle being a reflection of that. “Sojourn’s someone who is super detail-oriented and thorough, which I think leans into her kit being accuracy-heavy. She is a brilliant tactician and definitely a 'measure twice, cut once' kind of person."
