Overwatch 2 Venture: New DPS Hero Release Date, Abilities and Lore

There were a lot of announcements for Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon, but one of the most surprising might have been the reveal of Venture, a new DPS hero coming to Overwatch 2. Here's everything you might want to know about the 40th hero coming to the game.

Who is Venture

Blizzard described the character as a Canadian archeologist with "an unquenchable thirst for treasures and hidden secrets".

They're also the first non-binary hero to join the game.

But other than this, we don't know a whole lot more about the character's lore for the time being.

When Is Venture Coming To Overwatch 2

We have full confirmation that Venture will arrive at Overwatch 2 in Season 10 of the game. This keeps up the trend of how often Blizzard has released their new heroes every two seasons. With Mauga launching during Season 8, it makes sense that Venture would launch during Season 10 of the game.

Now the question becomes, when does Season 10 of Overwatch 2 start? More than likely, Venture will arrive in Overwatch 2 in either April or May of 2024. Depending on how long Seasons 8 and 9 last, these two seasons could push Venture sooner or later than we expect. We will update this page once we know more.

What Abilities Will Venture Have In Overwatch 2?

We were pretty lucky because, at BlizzCon, fans got some very early footage on the abilities used by Venture. The key gameplay mechanic used by Venture is the ability to dig underground, which also allows the character to avoid damage.

A general overview of the character's abilities can be seen just below, although we do not know anything about Venture's Ultimate for the time being.

• Primary fire - Shoots out an AoE projectile that travels a set distance and explodes on contact.

• LSHIFT - Burrows underground. While burrowed, Venture cannot be damaged and can move in any direction. They can emerge from the ground in a vertical burst of movement either at will or when the ability duration runs out. While emerge is fully charged, there's a brief AoE damaging effect before Venture boosts out of the ground.

• E - Forward dash that damages enemies in its path. Upon activation, grants 50 Shield HP that decays over a few seconds.
