Mercy’s super jump originally started as an exploit that players utilized and eventually became a staple of Mercy's gameplay pattern for experienced players. It is one of the only mechanics Mercy players had to learn.
With the release of Overwatch 2, Mercy’s super jump is an official mechanic, and it is available for all players to access, not just the more experienced players. Mercy’s changes are detailed in their most recent balance update. The two Overwatch 2 betas saw multiple versions of Mercy’s super jump but now with the full release on the 4th of October, the devs have finally settled on the current version.
Changes to Mercy in Overwatch 2
Mercy is one of the easier heroes when it comes to mechanics. Her mechanics are all about timing more than aim. Previous Mercy super jump and guardian angel slingshot required you to input certain controls at a specific time.

In Overwatch 2, it has become easier than it already was. Mercy now can slingshot off her guardian angel in every direction. The distance you can slingshot is determined by how far you travel with your guardian angel. The height of Mercy’s super jump is also linked to the distance traveled in the guardian angel.
How to Super Jump in Overwatch 2 with Mercy - Tips
The super jump gets done during your guardian angel flight. You achieve guardian angel by using your assigned flight control on a nearby ally (you can see which control this is by looking in the bottom right corner of your HUD or Mercy’s controls in settings).
Whenever you use guardian angel, you will see a bar next to your reticle, which will determine the distance of your slingshot and the height of your super jump.
During your guardian angel, you can cancel it by using your crouch key. Once you do this, Mercy will launch upwards based on the distance you traveled during the guardian angel before canceling.
Why is Mercy’s Super Jump Useful?
Mercy is one of the most mobile supports in Overwatch 2. Her guardian angel is on a short cooldown which allows her to fly between heroes avoiding danger.
Mercy’s super jump adds a layer to her mobility. With the super jump, you can reach high grounds unattainable should your team have heroes who can not reach them.
Hollywood's second point is a map that comes to mind that shows off the super jump’s strength. Most heroes will need to take the elevators or use a mobility cooldown which is a longer cooldown than Mercy’s guardian angel. Mercy can move between long ground and high ground with relative ease.
Another use for the super jump is juking an incoming enemy. Is there a Reinhardt shatter coming your and your ally's way? Guardian angel to your ally and super jump to safety. Your teammate will likely still get shattered, but in this way, you have a better chance to survive and keep your ally alive.
