The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 trade show in Las Vegas continues into its second day as tech enthusiasts and companies take over Sin City. Thus far, there have been plenty of announcements, conferences, reveals, and hands-on demos, in which the latter saw accessories manufacturer Genki bring a few interesting items at this year's tech event.

One item in particular stole the show on Day 2 of CES 2025, adding to a litany of rumors, leaks, and speculations for the forthcoming hardware release, the Nintendo Switch 2, in which a handful of outlets gained exclusive hands-on demos. This led to many theorizing what the final Switch 2 console could look like based on images and video footage of a replica console flooding social media.

A French publication, Numerama, posted a hands-on demo video of a replica of the Nintendo Switch 2 from CES 2025 to their Twitter account. They provided some probable details on the final product, including being told that the replica is based on an actual Switch 2 console, which Genki utilized to develop a line of accessories for the forthcoming console.

While Genki doesn't have a direct partnership or branding deal with Nintendo as of writing, it can reveal these replicas they've been showcasing at CES 2025. Based on the images and footage from Numerama and US publication The Verge, the Switch 2 prototype is slightly larger than the standard Switch console, which "Nintendo’s next console appears to be wider than the original, with slightly larger Joy-Con controllers that seem like they’ll be more comfortable to hold," according to The Verge reporting by Antonio Di Benedetto and Jay Peters.

Genki "claims" the accessories they've developed for the console are reportedly launching as soon as the Switch 2 console, which is reported to be sometime in April 2025 (h/t Numerama and The Verge). Thus far, there have been several leaked images for the Switch 2 logo, the Joy-Cons, and the dock that has been circulating online forums and social media since the start of the new year.

Additionally, a recent patent filing has also done the rounds online, and various reports of Nintendo ports and third-party games that will launch for the Switch 2, which we know will be backward compatible with software and the Switch Online subscription service. As we await news on the official Switch 2 announcement, we can confirm via a Twitter post to the official Nintendo corporate account in May 2024, in which Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stated that the successor will be announced "within this fiscal year."
