The new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead has launched, and features zombie showgirls, zombie Elvis impersonators, and even a zombie tiger.
The action-horror plays out after a zombie outbreak has left Las Vegas ruined and walled off from the rest of the world. Dave Bautista plays Scott Ward, a war hero charged with the task of breaking into the city and retrieving $200m from a casino vault. Trouble is, Vegas is set to be nuked by the government, so he only has 32-hours to complete his mission, and the clock is ticking.
The trailer introduces the rag-tag group of mercenaries Ward assembles for the mission, played by the likes of Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Nora Arnezeder, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi, Samantha Win, Michael Cassidy, Richard Cetrone, and Garret Dillahunt
We also get a good look at the smart, fast, organized zombies they face off against, including an undead tiger that one character claims “crosses the line.” While the trailer makes great use of Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler.
Army of the Dead hits Netflix and select theaters on 21st May, but the film is just the start of the story, with an anime series and a prequel movie also in the works. Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas will chronicle Ward’s efforts to stop the zombie outbreak, while the movie focusses on the origin of Schweighöfer’s safe-cracker.
