After weeks of teasers by its Co-Creator, Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat 1 was officially announced worldwide on 18th May 2023 courtesy of its official announcement trailer. The latest entry in the acclaimed fighting game series will see the Mortal Kombat universe registered by the Fire God, Liu Kang bringing forth a wealth of new content highlighted by intriguing new story offerings.
Additionally, players will be able to jump into the game soon as the developer confirms a Beta Access will be coming to the console later this year, but how can players start joining the Beta? We’ve outlined all the details on the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta Access from its release date and how to play.

Mortal Kombat 1 Beta Access Dates
Following the official trailer release announcing Mortal Kombat 1 from developer NetherRealm Studios, publisher Warner Bros. Games released the game’s FAQ page revealing key details for the upcoming fighting game. This includes the game’s Beta Access which has been scheduled for dates in August 2023, ahead of its global release on 19th September 2023.
In a recent Tweet, Ed Boon confirmed that the Beta will run from August 18 until August 21, 2023. The Co-Creator announced the dates by reminding fans that it is the same date as the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie release date... And his mother's birthday.
How to Access the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta
Kombatants interested in participating in the forthcoming Beta must pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S versions. There has been no confirmation whether the Beta will also be made available for its PC and Nintendo Switch versions, as we’ll provide updates on this development as we approach the start of the Beta Access.
We can assume that once you’ve pre-ordered your copy of Mortal Kombat 1, either the Beta Access link could be forwarded or the Beta Access portal will immediately be available for players to join in the fight in this new era in the game’s franchise. You may need a WB Games Account to sign in, but if you have yet to have an account, you can register for one directly from the home page here.
Do note, at this time there’s no word on what features, game modes, and fighters will be available for access during the Beta.
Is The Mortal Kombat 1 Beta Coming To PC
At the time of writing nothing has been announced with regards to the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta on PC. Should the game’s PC version have Beta Access we imagine the developer will first have to reveal the PC requirements for the game. No doubt we'll learn more about both details in the coming months.
Mortal Kombat 1 Beta - Key Details
Alongside the Beta Access, those who’ve purchased the Mortal Kombat 1 physical or digital copy can play the game a few days before its global release. You must have either the Premium or Kollector’s Edition to qualify for the Early Access feature, which will be available starting 14th September 2023 across all available platforms.
Additionally, to access the game’s Beta and Early Access, PlayStation and Xbox owners will require an active PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access online multiplayer features. Lastly, you must have stable internet access to participate in the Beta and Early Access features and to gain entry into the game’s online multiplayer components.
