Capcom's Action RPG Monster Hunter: Wilds Dominates US Best-Selling Monthly Charts

Leading insights and data advisory provider Circana has released its latest report, which breaks down the highlights of the American gaming market, consumer spending trends, and best-selling games for its recorded period. February 2025 saw multiple gaming releases, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, Avowed, and Monster Hunter: Wilds, to name a few, available across various platforms or exclusively to one.

This data, which was recorded between 2nd February and 1st March 2025, saw six new games enter the American best-selling games chart for the month. While January 2025 was a slow month regarding gaming releases and trends in which Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 tops the best-selling games chart, it was dethroned by a new entry in one of Capcom's best-selling series.

Notable video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella posted to Bluesky providing data on the American gaming charts for February 2025, which saw Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 being dethroned by Capcom's Monster Hunter: Wilds. The action RPG was released to "generable favorable" reviews, which garnered much excitement through a series of beta tests, the last being held in February 2025, weeks before its release.

It was announced by Capcom that Monster Hunter: Wilds had sold over 8 million copies in record time in three days after its release, which undoubtedly became the fastest title to achieve this milestone in Capcom's history. Several new releases entered the American gaming charts, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, and PGA Tour 2K25, which occupied the top four spots, with NBA 2K25 continuing its growth, surpassing Black Ops 6, taking the fifth spot.

Obsidian Entertainment's Xbox-exclusive release, Avowed, and RGG Studio's Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii are the final two new releases for the month, and their sales guaranteed them spots in the US charts. Notable mentions to a few previously released games like Grand Theft Auto 5, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Helldivers 2, Elden Ring, and Astro Bot ranked within the US best-selling games charts in February 2025.
