The Sentinels of Light global event will make its arrival into every game in Riot’s repertoire in just a matter of time, with Teamfight Tactics receiving a new expansion, new Ruination weapon skins coming to Valorant, and the debut of a Sentinel champion in League of Legends.
Meanwhile, Legends of Runeterra will receive its second Champion Expansion, featuring the addition of the Ruined King and the Rogue Sentinel into the card game, as well as a new limited-time event with lots of collectibles to unlock for free.
LoR Sentinels of Light: New cards
LoR’s Sentinels of Light event will feature the debut of Viego and Akshan, adding 21 new collectible cards featuring followers, spells, and landmarks focused around the Ruination and the Sentinels of Light.
Some of these have already been shown, as the first cards around the Ruined King and the Black Mist were spotted in some websites. You can take a look at these in this first preview article.
As for Akshan’s cards, this will be focused on many of his abilities revealed by Riot recently, all of them being part of the Shuriman region and with its main card being a 2/2 two-mana Legendary card, with the Quick Attack keyword and a passive skill that allows to summon the Warlord’s Palace or advance it one round.
With the Warlord’s Palace, whenever it increases a round it will create a Relic of Power, which can be used to either predict a draw, summon a Sandstone charger or grant all allies +1/+0. If the Warlord’s Palace countdown reaches eight, Akshan’s card will level up.
In his leveled up form, Akshan can summon a Warlord’s Hoard or advance it one round when his attacks Strike an opponent. The Warlord’s Hoard also features a eight-count countdown; after reaching its limit, it will summon a Sentinel’s Hoard in hand which can be used to create either of these three cards.
Last but not least, Akshan’s Grappling Hook and The Absolver will be also added into the game, featuring Burst and Slow effects that will buff your allies and impact your enemies’ power drastically.
LoR Sentinels of Light: “Declare Your Allegiance” Event Pass
As the whole Sentinels of Light features the current battle between the Sentinels and the Ruined King, in this special event players will choose between either the Ruined or Sentinels Event Pass, earning thematic rewards for their side based on who they ally with.
Players can’t switch sides once they’ve made a choice, but after collecting all of their side’s rewards, players will then start to collect rewards from the opposing side (with the exception of a few exclusive items).
A non-canon metagame event will also track how much support each side has. At the end of the Sentinels of Light event, all participating players will receive an in-game reward based on the winning side (regardless of which one they allied with).
Also, completing a Sentinels event pass level in LOR will contribute a point to Riot’s Charity Drive Pool, an exclusive initiative made for this event in partnership with the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.
LoR Sentinels of Light: Exclusive cosmetics
Some of the rewards of the Event Passes and in-game store content will feature many exclusive cosmetics and collectibles, including a Sentinels HQ-themed Board, as well as Ruined & Sentinels Guardians, Card Backs, Emotes, and 7 new in-canon champion skins:
- Sentinel Irelia (includes a new level-up animation)
- Sentinel Diana
- Sentinel Riven
- Ruined Shyvana
- Ruined Karma
- Ruined Draven
- Unbound Thresh
Legends of Runeterra’s Sentinels of Light event will be available from 14th July to 10th August, 2021.
