Of course, this was just an initial announcement, so a release date is likely coming soon. Be sure to stay tuned—we’ll update you as soon as Crytek confirms when Garden of the Witch goes live.
What Is Garden of the Witch?
The community post announcing the Garden of the Witch event provided some intriguing details while still keeping things somewhat mysterious. According to Crytek: "Garden of the Witch sees cursed nature and Corrupted metal clash. In the story of the Bruja duo and the Welders, each group fights against Corruption with their strengths. The Brujas bring organic mysticism to the table, while the Welders are armed with industrial occult practices and fire."
While the full gameplay mechanics remain unclear, we do know that players will collect Event Points and Pledge Marks. However, instead of the usual rewards, this event introduces three Event-exclusive Sealed Traits, which have been selected from past events:
- Blademancer – Use Dark Sight to quickly retrieve launched projectiles.
- Corpse Seer – Receive a Dark Sight Boost when looting Hunters, even without a Bounty Token.
- Gunrunner – Allows your Hunter to equip two large guns at the same time.
Additionally, Garden of the Witch will introduce Rare Supply Points, appearing alongside regular Supply Points. These new locations will provide rare rewards, including:
- One of the Event-exclusive Sealed Traits
- A Sealed Cash Register
- Various Sealed Envelopes, which can be unsealed in exchange for Pledge Marks
Update 2.3 and Gameplay Changes
This event will launch alongside the Hunt: Showdown 1896 2.3 update, which brings notable improvements and adjustments. Crytek aims to fix ongoing issues, including:
- Concertina wire damage affecting players through floors
- Hanging chains blocking melee attacks
- Lingering poison effects
- Various UI bugs
Beyond bug fixes, Update 2.3 will also introduce several gameplay changes:
Major Gameplay Adjustments
- Recruitment Revamp – New Hunters will now come with 10 Upgrade Points to freely allocate on unlocked Traits for more customization from the start.
- Trait Adjustments – Poltergeist and Blast Sense return as regular Traits, with Blast Sense now detecting silenced shots.
- New Compounds for Bounty Clash – Arden Parish and Darrow Livestock are being added as potential Bounty Clash locations, with refined spawn points and item placements.
- Gameplay Tweaks – Syringe use has been improved, and Dark Dynamite Satchels can now be disabled and picked up.
- Bounty Clash Tweaks – Community feedback has led to a reduction in the number of teams to four for better pacing. Additionally, the Nighttime Time of Day option has been removed from Bounty Clash Missions to improve gameplay flow.
- Stealth Adjustments – Silenced weapons now deal 10% less damage, and throwable melee tools have been rebalanced to emphasize specialization.
Gunplay Changes Based on Community Feedback
- The Bolt Thrower Trait now works with the Bomb Lance and Bomb Launcher for faster reloads.
- The Maynard and Martini-Henry now benefit from the Fast Fingers Trait.
- New Weapon Variants – Introducing the 1865 Carbine Silencer, Obrez Match, and Obrez Sharpeye.
With all of these additions coming alongside a brand-new event, the next few weeks and months of Hunt: Showdown 1896 are shaping up to be packed with exciting gameplay opportunities.
