Horizon Forbidden West was released on 18th February and is the sequel to its predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn, continuing the fantastic storyline from Guerilla Games. With a massive open world to explore, players will take control of the game's protagonist Aloy and fight off enemies in an attempt to save humanity.

There are many ways to customise your gameplay with Aloy, including a detailed skill tree. The developers first introduced players to the character in the game's first instalment, and fans instantly took a liking to her following the character's sky-rocketed popularity.

Aloy's fight for humanity continues in the sequel, and many players are now asking the question: How old is Aloy in Horizon Forbidden West?

How old is Aloy in Horizon Forbidden West?

Aloy's Horizon Zero Dawn story begins in the year of her birth, 3021, in the post-apocalyptic United States. During this time, humans are scattered throughout primitive tribes, with differing levels of technology as they fight against giant machines which rule the land.

We are first introduced to Aloy at the tender age of 6 when she accidentally stumbles across a bunker formerly used by the Old Ones. She later finds her Focus device, giving her special abilities.

The storyline later skips ahead about 12 years to when Aloy and her tribe are attacked; she is 18 years old at the time. While there is no official marker of the length of Aloy's journey in Horizon Zero Dawn, it is widely speculated that her adventures throughout the game span a year or so.

Followingly, it allows us to make an educated estimate of Aloy's age at the start of the sequel title in Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West begins six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn when Aloy has left the Meridian following the defeat of HADES. She then crosses over into the Forbidden West and discovers land is in the midst of a civil war.

The Forbidden West is in the western part of the United States and features futuristic representations of real-world locations, like a ruined San Fransisco and the Yosemite Valley.

Given this timeline, we can suspect that Aloy is likely 19 or 20 years old at the start of Horizon Forbidden West when the sequel story begins.
