Horizon Forbidden West is a massive open-world game, brimming with activities for you to pursue. To complement this gorgeous post-post-apocalyptic world's sheer scope and magnitude, developer Guerrilla Games have created an intricate combat system.
The game has a plethora of weapon types for you to choose from, more so than its predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn. Each weapon feels vastly different and has its own tactical advantages during combat.
If that wasn't enough, Horizon Forbidden West adds an extra punch to all the existing and new weapon types in the form of Weapon Techniques. Here's everything you need to know about it.
How to unlock Weapon Techniques in Horizon Forbidden West
Weapon Techniques are special abilities that you can use to rain down upon your enemies during combat to do extra damage.
Weapon Techniques consume stamina, so you can only use them a few times during battle until your stamina recharges. Some Weapon Techniques uses low stamina to activate, whereas some take moderate stamina.
You can unlock a total of 3 Weapon Techniques for every weapon type in Horizon Forbidden West from the various skill trees. These weapon types include Hunter Bow, Warrior Bow, Boltblaster, Blast Sling, Shredder Gauntlet, and Spike Thrower.
To unlock a Weapon Technique using a skill point, you must unlock its adjacent skill. Followingly, it may take a while before you unlock all Weapon Techniques for your favourite weapon type.
You can also unlock Weapon Techniques for the weapon types you haven't acquired or found in the game, although doing so would be unnecessary.
Once you have unlocked a Weapon Technique for a weapon type you have equipped, hold L2 and press R1 to activate it. You can only equip one Weapon Technique for every weapon type, so make sure to choose wisely, as they could turn the tide of the battle.
