Players should kill the Warp Trotter in Rivet Town, and after acquiring this item, visit the window of the bridge and interact with the character there (initially referred to as "Weak Female Voice").
Give her the item, and she will reward you with the Damaged Music Box. The Damaged Music Box will have the following in-game description:
