Hogwarts Legacy is shaping up to be one of the biggest game releases of 2023. It's already a top-selling game on Steam and the excitement continues to grow as its release date draws near. While Hogwarts Legacy promises a lot - a big expansive Harry Potter world that fans have craved for years - there's still room for more additions.
Some fans have been wondering if Hogwarts Legacy features any kind of multiplayer component, and the answer to that is quite surprising.
Is There A Multiplayer In Hogwarts Legacy?
Hogwarts Legacy won't feature multiplayer or co-op. Period. Avalanche Software, the studio responsible for bringing Hogwarts Legacy to life, has made it crystal clear via the FAQs on the game's official website that this is strictly a single-player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay. Fans may also be interested in knowing that there will be no micro-transactions in Hogwarts Legacy.
Is Multiplayer Possible In Hogwarts Legacy?
While WB Games and Avalanche Software haven't hinted at such possibility, online multiplayer addition in Hogwarts Legacy doesn't seem unlikely.
Friendship was one of the key themes in the Harry Potter books, and there's no better way to replicate that experience in Hogwarts Legacy than by allowing players to attend and adventure in the magical school of witchcraft and wizardry with their friends.
If the trailers were any indication, Hogwarts Legacy may already have a solid foundation for a good MMO.
It's no mystery that popular MMOs and live-service titles tend to make a lot of money, so it's possible that the publishers could be scrutinizing a standalone Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer game, much akin to GTA Online, Fallout 76, or the upcoming The Last of Us 2 Factions.
Either way, fans shouldn't expect any updates anytime soon.
Hogwarts Legacy launches on 7th February 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, on 4th April 2023 for PS4 and Xbox One, and on 25th July 2023 for Nintendo Switch.
