Rockstar Games have officially announced the remastered collection, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, arriving later this year, much to the delight of dedicated players. What wasn’t expected was that avid players will get to relive San Andreas in a separate and remastered adventure.
On top of this, Rockstar announced a standalone release for San Andreas, which will be hitting Xbox Game Pass.
A Homecoming on Grove Street
Rockstar Games published their latest blog post which accompanied the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition online. The developer buried towards the end of the blog post was the news for an upcoming standalone release for San Andres.

Players got a first-hand look in the trailer at the extensive work done by Grove Street Games to make the game look and play better on current and last-generation consoles.
Rockstar Games has outlined many of the improvements coming with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition.
Some of the ones detailed by Rockstar Games include “rebuilt lighting system, improved shadows, weather and reflections, upgraded character and vehicle models; along with new higher resolution textures across buildings, weapons, roads, interiors and more”.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, first released in 2004, is the series’ fifth main entry which follows Carl “CJ” Johnson making his return to the city after a five-year absence. This game is the series’ most recognisable given the city reappearance over a decade later in Grand Theft Auto V.

The developer announced a digital release date for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Definitive Edition in their blog post. Its digital release will arrive the same day as Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition’s digital release on 11th November 2021.
