GTA Online next-gen release time

GTA Online was initially released way back in October of 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The game is the online component of GTA V and allows players to jump into massive open-world lobbies and complete co-op missions, competitions, or just wreak havoc on the city.

While GTA Online was made available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms in 2014-15, there have been next-gen consoles released since then. GTA Online Next-Gen release date & time

After recently making news after confirming the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, developers Rockstar Games are back in the headlines with another upcoming release. GTA Online is slated to hit next-gen consoles after a long wait in which only the last-gen versions were available.

We now have a set date after Rockstar confirmed GTA Online next-gen will release to consoles on 15th March. A pre-load period is live for players who want to minimize their wait, and the file sizes differ between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Currently, no exact release time has been revealed.

Though it should be noted, players will need to purchase the next-gen version of GTA Online, with Xbox Series X|S offering no free upgrades. PS5 players have a slightly different situation, as the game will be free for the first three months following the 15th March release.
