Genshin Impact’s 2.1 update “Floating World Under the Moonlight” will bring tons of new features to the game with the addition of the Watatsumi and Seirai islands, as well as a new fishing system, more powerful bosses, and most importantly, four new characters.
While in the 2.0 update we got to know more about Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya and Sayu, together with new allies in our journey against the Shogunate, this time we will learn more about the Electro Archon herself, known for being the relentless ruler from the nation of Eternity.
So without further ado, it’s time to introduce you to her Eternal Excellency, the supreme ruler of Inazuma, the Raiden Shogun.
Raiden Shogun - Backstory and origins
The Raiden Shogun is by far one of the most mysterious characters around Teyvat, as most only know her for being the one in charge of the Inazuma Bafuku, the entity that currently rules over Inazuma. Besides, before the times of the seven nations, she was mostly known as Baal, the God of Eternity, being one of the Seven together with Barbatos and Morax.
As the leader of the Shogunate, the Raiden Shogun has ruled with an iron will for hundreds of years, promising her people an unchanging eternity as her name has long shaken the shackles of mere life, becoming the eternal traditional belief of Inazuma, even being part of the war chants shouted by her powerful army.
Most people trust in her great name and her might, believing their descendants shall witness the same sights, sharing the same fate that will form the foundations of their inner worlds, and that this will pass from generation to generation, as this is the eternal paradise the Almighty Shogun promised for her people.
As life is something transitory for her, nothing else matters except reaching her true purpose: eternity, and believe it or not, there is almost nothing that can stop her from achieving this, as her skills with the power of the thunder and lightning, and her ruthless judgement is the only things she needs to fulfil her final goal.
Raiden Shogun - Talents
Her normal attack, Origin, allows her to perform up to five consecutive strikes, while with her charged attack, she can consume some Stamina to perform an upward slash. When plunging from mid-air, she can strike the ground below to damage all opponents around her area of impact.
With her elemental skill, Transcendence: Baleful Omen, the Raiden Shogun will unveil a shard of her Euthymia, dealing Electro DMG to all nearby opponents, and granting party members the Eye of Stormy Judgment.
Whenever your characters attack or deal DMG with the Eye of Stormy Judgment active, the Eye will unleash a coordinated attack, dealing Electro DMG at the opponent’s position, while also having an increase in their Elemental Burst DMG based on its energy cost during the Eye’s duration.
The Raiden Shogun also counts with a passive effect called Chakra Desiderata, which allows when any member of your party uses their Elemental Burst, she will build up Resolve stacks based on the Elemental Burst energy costs, with up to a maximum of 60 stacks at a time.
The Resolve gained will be cleared five minutes after the Shogun leaves the field.
With her Elemental Burst, Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, the Raiden Shogun will unleash the Musou no Hitotachi and deal Electro DMG around her, while also summoning her Musou Isshin Tachi in combat for a certain duration, increasing her resistance to interruption, and making her immune to Electro-Charged reaction DMG.
While in this state, all DMG dealt by Musou no Hitotachi and her Musou Isshin will be increased based on her current Chakra Desiderata stacks, and all her attacks will be infused with Electro DMG, regenerating energy for all nearby party members, and changing all Attack DMG to Elemental Burst DMG.
Raiden Shogun - Best weapons
Engulfing Lightning
Starting with the best 5-star weapon for her, the Shogun’s debut will coincide with the release of a powerful polearm known as the Engulfing Lightning. This weapon is part of the Inazuma Series, blazing a fierce violet light providing great stats with its unique skill, being the signature weapon for the Electro Archon.
It comes with a special passive called Timeless Dream: Eternal Stove, which increases ATK by 28/35/42/49/56% of your Energy Recharge over the base 100%, up to a maximum bonus of 80/90/100/110/120% ATK. It also grants an extra 30/35/40/45/50% Energy Recharge for 12 seconds after using an Elemental Burst.
Skyward Spine
Next up we will find the Skyward Spine, one of the weapons blessed by the Anemo Archon Barbatos, dedicated to Dvalin both for his victory over Durin and for his restoration after being corrupted.
Powered by its Blackwing passive, this polearm can increase CRIT Rate by 8/10/12/14/16% and Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks hits on opponents will have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40/55/70/85/100% of ATK as DMG in a small area.
“The Catch”
Moving on to the best 4-star weapon, we will find one of the latest introductions into the game available as a free reward, as part of the items available in the Inazuma Fishing Association, in exchange for the fish you collect with the new Fishing System.
“The Catch” is a polearm that almost resembles a trident. Its Shanty skill can increase your Elemental Burst DMG by 16%, and your Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.
Favonius Lance
We will close this list with the Favonius Lance, a polearm made in the style of the Knights of Favonius with a straight shaft, and its tip that flows lightly like the wind, used in a ceremonial role at parades and reviews, but it’s also a keen and mortal foe of monsters.
With its Windfall skill, all CRIT hits will have a 60/70/80/90/100% chance to generate a small number of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate six Energy for the character, although this can only occur once every 12/10.5/9/7.5/6 seconds. That's all in the Raiden Shogun Weapon list.
Raiden Shogun - Best artifacts and stats
Emblem of Severed Fate
As the main choice for her artifacts, we will recommend one of the latest introductions in the 2.0 update, the Emblem of Severed Fate set, as it will increase the chances of spamming your Elemental skills by increasing your Energy Recharge by 20% when having two pieces of it.
If you manage to equip four artifacts of this set, it will also increase Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge, up to a maximum of 75% bonus DMG.
Thundering Fury
The second best option by far is the Thundering Fury set, as it will buff the power of your Electro DMG by 15% when having two pieces from this set.
With four pieces, all Overload, Electro-Charged, and Superconduct damage will be powered up by 40%. Triggering any of these reactions will also reduce Elemental Burst cooldown by one second, once every 0.8 seconds
In case you only have two pieces at hand, these can be combined with the Noblesse Oblige set for a bonus 20% Elemental Burst DMG.
Artifact Stats
As for the statistics, these will be focused on increasing her critical attack chance and damage, as well as her Energy Recharge stats to use all of her abilities faster, and take advantage of them to the max in the field:
Main Stats:
- ATK
- Energy Recharge
- CRIT
Sub Stats:
- CRIT DMG
- CRIT Rate
- ATK%
- Flat ATK
- Energy Recharge
Recommended team composition and release date
As strong as she seems, the Raiden Shogun is set to become of the best DPS dealers in Genshin Impact, as her ability to spam lots of buffs for her and her allies, along with powerful attacks and strong Elemental control, makes her a perfect character to create lots of devastating reactions.
So, to compliment her playstyle, you can choose between the following characters based on what suits you best for the battle:
- Kamisato Ayaka (Cryo), or Chongyun (Cryo): Both of these Cryo characters have two great qualities, a strong weapon to handle with all enemies around, and an incredible Elemental skill that allows you to make tons of Superconduct explosions.
- Kazuha (Anemo), or Traveller (Anemo): As with the previous ones, these two can also bring a lot of damage into the board, while making great swirls that attract all enemies around, for an unstoppable hurricane of Electro DMG.
- Kujou Sara (Electro), or Beidou (Electro): Any of them will take good advantage of the Electro buff the Shogun provides with her affinity and the Elemental power-up of her skill and passive effect.
- Alternatively, you can also take with you any Hydro character like Xingqiu or Barbara for more Elemental Reactions, or either Bennett (Pyro) or Zhongli (Geo) in case you need some healings or shields.
And that’s all we gotta share with you about the Raiden Shogun. Remember, she will only be available from 1st to 22nd September in the banner “Reign of Serenity”, along with Kujou Sara’s debut, so try to save as many Primogems as you can.
