Week 3 Quests are live in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 and many of the latest challenges are fairly easy to follow as long as you check out the challenge map. But the quest to destroy chrome structures can get confusing due to the overall requirements.
The challenge itself seems simple enough but there are some hidden qualifiers in order for the chrome structures to count toward your quest progress. Our guide will go over how to complete the chrome structure challenge in Fortnite and the best way to get through it.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 - How to Destroy Chrome Structures
When Chapter 3 Season 4 started, there were a handful of points of interest that were covered in the chrome liquid. Those areas are still present and you can easily spot them all over the map. But these areas won't technically help you complete this quest from the Week 3 collection.
To gain any progress when you destroy chrome structures in Fortnite, they can't be pre-chrome like any of the static points of interest on the map. Breaking any of those pre-chromed structures really won't help with progress, but breaking them can at least proved you with some Chrome Splashes at a high rate.

For the quest to properly track, you need to use Chrome Splashes on structures that didn't have chrome on them before. Throwing one of the splashes can typically cover around 6-10 breakable structures give or take. From there all you need to do is break each covered chrome structure with your pickaxe.
What makes the quest even more of a challenge is the number of destroyed structures needed for completion. In total, you'll need 100 destroyed structures to claim the reward and get even further through your Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 quests.
One of the easiest ways to get through the quest is by playing in the normal build modes rather than Zero Build. You can use your own structures placed on the map to earn more progress. In Zero Build, you'll have to find all the structures on your own.
