Epic Games is no stranger to experimenting with their massively popular hit title, Fortnite Battle Royale.
Since the launch of the game, back in 2017, we have seen many interesting innovations and additions, but nothing that will fundamentally change the game and its core gameplay mechanics. One of these core mechanics is that the game is played from the third-person perspective.
But that might change with the start of Chapter 2 Season 3, at least in some capacity.
The Device Event started this Monday, and among many other things, it also introduced some sequences where players were transitioned to a first-person view. As you can see below, players were able to walk around an office and watch things from a first-person view.

This was mostly for the sake of the story, and it is nothing really strange, but things are starting to get weird after the office scene. While most of the players were transitioned back to a third-person camera, some players simply glitched out and their view remained first-person.
The device event was so insane that glitched my camera and turned Fortnite into a First person shooter from FortNiteBR
As some players quickly noticed, the hand and gun positions fit almost too well for it not to be a future feature. Weapons fit perfectly and everything looks natural, but when Reddit user tried to use "Dance" animations were not visible to him, because the camera stayed in FPS mode.
And this is not the only case of this glitch, people are reporting the same thing happening to people playing the game on mobile.

Of course, this might just simply be a bug and people are reading too much into it, but this is indeed looking oddly polished to call it just a bug. It looks more like a feature than a weird glitch.
And while shooting is looking great from a first-person perspective, the question remains how will another important Fortnite thing - building - look from this perspective.
The field of view will be much more narrow than the one from a third-person perspective and it will be significantly harder to build things properly.

If this is indeed a new feature or not, we will probably find out in the coming days.
Would you like to play Fortnite FPS mode?
