Despite its immense popularity and presence on PlayStation consoles, Final Fantasy 14 has never made its way to Xbox consoles. Launching in 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC, Final Fantasy 14 has only gone from strength to strength. The MMORPG has received four major expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker, with a fifth on the way called Dawntrail.
Having surged in popularity, Final Fantasy 14 has since been released across PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and macOS. Yet, somehow, the game has never been made available on Xbox. Thankfully, that's all set to change.
Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer announced in July 2023, during the North American Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest, that a port of the game would be coming to Xbox Series X|S. The port will support faster load times, cross-play and cross-progression with the PlayStation and PC versions, and the Series X version specifically will be playable in native 4K. An Open Beta for the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy 14 has also been announced. Below, we'll go over all the key dates and information you'll need to know in order to take part.
Update 5 February: We've updated this article with the latest news and information on the FFXIV Xbox Series X|S Open Beta.
