Earlier this week, US-based university Aquinas College formally announced a new partnership with gaming wellness company Gamer Advantage. According to the agreement, all members of the Michigan college esports program will be provided with eyewear manufactured by Gamer Advantage to be included as part of the team’s official uniform.
Head coach of Aquinas Esports Adam Antor said of the benefits of the two parties collaborating will provide, "This partnership with Gamer Advantage will allow Aquinas Esports to provide our players with the most advanced blue light glasses on the market."
The goal of this is to provide our players with proper eye protection for enduring prolonged practices and matches while using our computers, thus leading to less eye strain and more sleep.”
Based out of Walled Lake, Michigan, Gamer Advantage creates clinically proven eyewear to reduce "digital eye strain," blurred vision, and overexposure to blue light, while also helping helps gamers improve their sleep, brain health, and performance with lenses that are paired with high-quality optical-grade frames.

Founder of Gamer Advantage Bryan Reeder also touched on the importance of eyewear in esports shortly after the partnership was announced. "Gamer Advantage is really intended to be a form of protection. Protecting the eyes of our esports athletes is just as important as using a helmet to protect the heads of the hockey players."
Though Aquinas Esports was officially launched as a varsity collegiate athletic program at the university earlier this academic year, the team has made large strides in the esports community.
Shortly after the team was launched, they were inducted as a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), allowing the school to offer scholarships for prospective esports competitors, and fields teams League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Smash Ultimate.
