The latest Update Preview livestream for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) took place across multiple digital platforms, as developer ZeniMax Online Studios provided a sneak peek into the forthcoming update. ESO's next update, Update 43, will land on consoles and PCs in August and September and will see some new content and features available on the Public Test Server (PTS), including the Home Tours feature.

The Housing system is a popular feature amongst many RPG and MMO games, including New World, Palia, Stardew Valley, and Terraria, as this feature's inclusion makes it easier for players to find their next design inspiration. With the currently available information, we've discussed everything to know about the Home Tours feature, including its release date, how it works, how to use it, and more for ESO.

What Are Home Tours In The Elder Scrolls Online? Explained

Developer ZeniMax Online Studios held their monthly Update Preview livestream, during which they discussed key information for the next update for The Elder Scrolls Online. Update 43 arrives on PC and Mac on 19th August 2024, while PlayStation and Xbox players will have to wait until 4th September 2024 for the update's release as they can explore the latest content when it arrives on the Public Test Server (PTS).

One of the latest content additions arriving with Update 43 is a new gameplay feature, Home Tours, which specifically caters to the "Housing enthusiasts" of Tamriel. This new in-game feature allows players to visit other players' homes or search for specific decorated spaces using filters or labels, like "Libraries" and "Strongholds," if tagged.

If they wish to view the most popular homes in Tamriel, there will be a dedicated feed to reflect the top homes players visit by navigating to the Recommended tab. Players won't have to worry about which homes will get recommended as friends, and fellow Guild members will always be tagged when browsing for homes to visit.

Not only can they recommend a listing, but they can also favorite a listing if they wish to revisit a home at a later time. The developer noted that there will be a cap limit on the number of times they can recommend a home weekly, but this cap limit won't apply to how many times they visit homes.

How To Access & Use Home Tours In The Elder Scrolls Online?

According to the Update 43 Preview recap post, the developer provided details on how players can access this feature and begin their home touring adventures across Tamriel. This feature is located within the Activity Finder, which allows players to find player and grouped in-game activities by hitting the P key on PC or navigating to the Main Menu before selecting the Social category and Player tab on the controller.

Likewise, they can also search for a player's UserID, if they have been provided with one, from the Activity Finder. This UserID does appear in-game for players when exploring Tamriel with their friends and Guild members, making it easier to forward friendship requests in ESO and, in turn, to search for homes using the Home Tours feature.

Home Tours will allow players to create a Housing listing for their beautifully decorated home, add key details and labels for searchability, and adjust settings for players to access their homes. This makes it easier for players to search homes based on the labels provided on the listing and what type of players can view the home to avoid other players changing the home's design or moving furniture around.

As a visitor, if they loved the home they've visited, there will be an option for them to recommend it to other players, which can boost its listing. If more players recommend a specific Home Tour listing, this can increase its chances of appearing on the Recommended tab and thus increase its visibility.
