The International is the penultimate Dota 2 tournament and has historically been a spotlight event on the esports calendar. Hosted by Valve, the game's developer, the event has also featured record-breaking prize pools, making it the world's largest and most prestigious esports event.

Specifically, The International is a culmination of the Dota 2 Majors held throughout the year and determines the team most worthy to wield the prestigious Aegis of Champions. In this guide, you'll find everything about The International 2024, including the schedule, teams, format, and more.

How Can I Watch Dota 2 The International 2024?

Like before, The International 2024 will be broadcast live on Twitch or YouTube. Otherwise, fans can watch the matches live from their Dota 2 game client under the "Watch" section. Regional broadcasts will also be available in Chinese, Russian, and Spanish languages.

When Does The International 2024 Start?

The International 2024 will run from 4 to 15 September at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Road to the International (Group Stage and Playoffs) takes place from 4-10 September, and The International Finals runs from 13-15 September. You can refer to the countdown timer below to know how long you still need to wait.

When Does The International 2024 Regional Qualifiers Start?

The International 2024 Regional Qualifiers runs from 3-23 June. Entry into the Open Qualifiers (3-8 June) is available to all Dota 2 teams. This stage serves as the first step for teams to prove their worth and advance to the Regional Qualifiers (9-23 June)

The Regional Qualifiers are divided into three separate tournaments for different regions, with each having a set number of slots available for The International 2024. Here's a breakdown of the Regional Qualifiers schedule:

  • China and North America: June 9 to June 13, 2024
  • Eastern Europe and South America: June 14 to June 18, 2024
  • Southeast Asia and Western Europe: June 19 to June 23, 2024

How Many Teams Will Compete At The International 2024?

The International 2024 will host sixteen of the world's top Dota 2 teams. Like the previous year, the tournament will not feature a Last Chance Qualifier.

What Is The International 2024 Schedule And Format?

The International 2024 will run from 4 to 15 September 2024. It will mimic previous formats, indicated below. 

  • Open Qualifiers (3-23 June): In this stage, teams from around the world can compete for a spot at The International 2024: Regional Qualifiers. There are six slots for China, five for North America, three for Eastern Europe, six for South America, four for Southeast Asia, and two for Western Europe.
  • The Road To The International (4-10 September): Encompasses the Group Stage and Playoffs. This phase pits the top sixteen Dota teams against each other, whittling them down to the final eight.

  • The International 2024 (13-15 September): This phase will spotlight the final eight teams vying for the Aegis of Champions at the Royale Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark. This stage includes the Lower Bracket Finals and culminates in the best-of-five Grand Finals.

How Can I Buy Tickets To Attend The International 2024?

Tickets to The International 2024 will be available from June 10, 2024, at 10 AM CEST. You can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster using this link.

  • Single-Day Tickets: 1240 DKK for Friday, 1540 DKK for Saturday, and 2040 DKK for Sunday.
  • Two-Day Bundles: 2740 DKK for Friday and Saturday and 3540 DKK for Saturday and Sunday.
  • Three-Day Bundle: 4740 DKK for the entire event.

Note: All ticket prices include a 40 DKK Ticketmaster fee.

What Is The Dota 2 The International 2024 Prize Pool?

The base prize pool of The International 2024 is set at $1,600,000, with an extra 25% of all Compendium sales added to the total prize pool for a total prize pool of $2,582,123.
