If you are wondering what's the best Amazon build for beginners in Diablo 2 Resurrected, a number of veteran players would probably tell you it's one of the popular Bow/Crossbow builds.
And while Bow builds are indeed a strong choice, we would argue that a proper Javelin build could be equally strong, but more importantly, it fulfils the fantasy of playing as an Amazon better than playing with a Bow build. And it's a much more fun way to play with the Amazon class!
If you are about to experience the Amazon in Diablo 2 Resurrected for the first time, but you are not sure what would be the best Amazon build for beginners, you are in the right place!
This Amazon Javelin build guide will help to understand the build's strengths and weaknesses, to know in which Attributes and Skills you should invest your points, which gear you should find for your build, and more.
The best Amazon Javelin build
Just like in real life, javelins in Diablo 2 Resurrected are predominately used by throwing them. They can be used in melee combat as well, but in most cases, they will do less damage if used in that way (there are some exceptions, like the Hyperion Javelin and Balrog Spear).
With that being said, that doesn't mean that you should not use them as melee weapons, as they do descent damage in melee as well, and one particular advantage for this type of use is that Javelins have a weapon range of 3, which is a bigger melee reach than most other melee weapons in the game, especially in one-handed melee weapon category.
As Javelins are one-handed weapons, this build is always paired with a good shield which you will put in your off-hand, but we will get back to that later.
Javelin build Attributes (stats) points
allocation
In Diablo 2 Resurrected there are several attributes, each fulfilling a specific role and helping you in different aspects of your build.
Though there are not particularly balanced and one of the most important Attributes for almost any class is Strenght as it determines what armour and weapons a character can wield, while also increasing damage.
The second most important attribute is Vitality, as it increases your life and stamina, which helps your stay alive while kiting in combat.
The other two attributes are Dextery and Energy. Energy increases your mana and it is generally one of the least important attributes in the game, even for heavy mana-users, as there are other ways to increase and replenish your mana through items and gear.
For our particular Javelin build, Dexterity will be useful, as it will help us dodge damage (affects blocking with Shields and overall Defense(Armour)). And additionally, it will further increase our damage with Amazon class-specific javelins.
With all that being said, here's how you should use your Attribute points:
- Strength - Use most of the points here, as Amazon class-specific javelins have an extra 80% damage bonus from this stat.
- Dexterity - Chance to block is rather important for the Javelin build, and you should maintain it at 70-75% and above, which you should do by investing in Dexterity.
- Vitality - This depends entirely on you, if you feel safe and don't think that you need extra Life, you don't need to invest too many points here, but if you want more security, you can add more.
- Energy - Don't waste your points on this, it's not needed.
Javelin build Skill points allocation
The Amazon has three skill trees; one is focused on Bows and Crossbows, one on Javelins and Spears, and the third is a "neutral" Passive tree, which provides various supports skills for all kinds of builds.
When it comes to the Javelin & Spear tree, there are only two really important skills in which we should invest base skill points.
Those skills are Jab and Lightning Fury. Jab is one of the essential skills, which does a rapid triple attack on the same target, and it is the main damage skill of this build.
Its mana cost is negligible, it has high accuracy, and it works really well in combination with javelins.
On the other hand, in the Passive Tree, we want a combination of passives that will further increase our damage output and protective skills that will help us mitigate damage and avoid attacks.
Let's check out our stat distribution:
- Evade - add to max (20)
- Avoid - add to max (20)
- Evade - at least 10
- Critical Strike - add to max (20)
- Pierce - around 5-10 (pairs very well with Lightning Fury)
- Jab - add to max (20)
- Lightning Fury - add to max (20)
These are the core skills of the Javelin build and you should invest your skill points as detailed above. Anything extra you can spend as you desire, based on what you think might suit your needs or play style.
It should be noted that while you cannot add more than 20 skill points to one skill, there's no upper limit to them, and they can go well above 20 with various passive bonuses from things like items, Skill Shrines, etc.
Best gear for Javelin build
There is an old saying that clothes make the man, and while we are not sure about it in real life, in Diablo 2 Resurrected this is absolutely true.
The equipment is the bread and butter of your build in Diablo 2, and what you wear defines you in terms of what your character can and can not do.
Of course, unlike attributes and skills points, where you decide how you want to build your character, when it comes to equipment there is an inherent factor of randomness, as it relies on your loot and what you get from it.
Keep in mind that the gear we recommend you here is the ultimate goal of the build, and in the meantime use whatever is the best thing you have at the moment until you acquire these items.
Here's what we think is the ideal gear for the Amazon Javelin build.
Weapon
By far the most important thing of this Javelin build is...well, javelin.
Many players choose Titan’s Revenge, which is a great Ceremonial Javelin that offers a crazy amount of bonuses, and it goes exceptionally well with Lightning Fury.
It's is generally considered the best unique javelin in the game, and if you check its stats, you will understand why!

Other gear
For Belt, you can choose either Thundergod's Vigor or String of Ears, both work great for this build.
Waterwalk, Aldur's Advance, and Immortal Kings boots are all a good set of boots, depending on what you need in your build. The first set will provide you with extra dexterity, the second will add the 40% faster running and 50 Life, while the third set will significantly increase your attack rating.
For rings and an amulet, we don't have any particular advice. There's a lot of choices here, simply see what suits you at the moment and what you currently have at your disposal.
With that said, our Amazon best Javazon build guide is now completed. While this guide provides you with a lot of information, non of it is set in stone, and there's room for experimentation.
