Destiny 2 Vault of Glass World's First raid race marred by racially insensitive name

A player sporting the name #BlackLivesDontMatter and their team placed second during the first section of the VoG raid race.
Destiny 2 Vault of Glass World's First raid race marred by racially insensitive name

While the Vault of Glass raid race had an incredible ending with Clan Elysium coming out on top in a World's First event that differed from previous ones by requiring players to finish the raid twice, it was almost soured by racially insensitive people.

Soon after the first half of the raid race ended, which essentially encompassed finishing the Vault of Glass with the Conquest Mode modifier on to unlock Challenge Mode, players spotted that, according to Destiny Tracker, the second fireteam to complete it had a player in its ranks with the tag #BlackLivesDontMatter.

Despite the team not winning and falling out of second place during the Challenge Mode portion of the raid race, players quickly petitioned for the team to be banned, with day 1 rewards taken away from them as a result.

"Please Bungie tell me that this user will be BANNED and forbidden to be able to get WF," Twitter user Misstrusts mentioned, garnering over 300 retweets as of the time of writing.

Bungie's Senior Community Manager responded to the tweet, saying that the tag breaks their Code of Conduct, thus, punishment is in order. "The player in question will be banned."

It remains to be seen if the rest of the fireteam will also suffer the consequences of playing alongside such a person.
