Destiny 2 is all about the never-ending chase for that perfect weapon with amazing stats and incredible perks. Bungie incentivises this by making tougher activities such as Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and Nightfalls boast bigger and better rewards.
Of course, as the loot pool increases, some guns will need to be removed to avoid oversaturating the drops. For example, Nightfalls grant a different weapon each week, if the loot increased to an unsustainable degree, getting the one you want will decrease substantially.
It's a tough concession to make, but in the end, refreshing the loot pool of such activities by taking away some and bringing newer guns into the mix can make things more exciting for veterans.
It'd be unfair to not give a proper heads up to players, however, which is why Bungie revealed which weapons will be removed from Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and Nightfalls in coming seasons, starting with Season 17, scheduled to start on 24th May.

"While we don’t have any firm plans to share, we can note that the team is aware of the feedback surrounding weapon rotations and availability and looking at opportunities in the future to address it. To keep expectations in check, this is likely a longer-term investigation, so don’t expect too much news over the next Season," Bungie added.
Furthermore, the weapons marked to be out of the rotation for season 18 might not end up getting removed, but Bungie's plan is headed in that direction.
