Dead by Daylight's Onryo, also known as Sadako Yamamura, has been the subject of multiple major power reworks since her release. Now, she's getting yet another one following the Alan Wake PTB, and not everyone is happy about the changes to her power and gameplay.

Dead by Daylight's developers announced the changes in their post-PTB patch notes, which they also posted to Twitter. In the Twitter thread, users expressed their frustrations with Sadako's new gameplay. "I'm baffled on the Sadako changes," one user wrote. "All excitement I had is gone[.] She's a dead killer with these changes[.]"

One of the main elements of Sadako's ability is her Condemned status effect, which allows her to inflict survivors with "stacks" that will ultimately result in them becoming Exposed if they accrue too many. According to the developer update, after the PTB, Onryo would no longer be able to lock in more than 2 stacks of Condemned. In her recent PTB update, she could lock in many stacks of Condemned and thus more easily inflict survivors with the Condemned status effect if they refused to return their videotapes (the only way to counter this power).

The PTB update also removed her teleportation cooldown, but developers felt this was too strong, now giving her a power meter that recharges over the course of 10 seconds. If the power meter isn't full, projecting won't inflict Condemned, thus greatly weakening Sadako's ability to actually use her power on survivors.

"The Sadako changes are horrendous and it doesn’t feel like feedback was listened to at all. These changes now encourage her to slug again," another user pointed out in the Twitter thread. "This was not the case with the PTB."

Dead by Daylight's team responded to fans' concerns about The Onryo, noting that more changes are coming to the killer following players' feedback.

"Based on the feedback we received on the upcoming changes for the Onryo, we're preparing a series of follow-up adjustments planned to release as part of the minor updates following the Mid-Chapter," they wrote, promising that more information will be coming soon.
