Dead by Daylight has increased the MMR soft cap in the game, leading to more challenging games for the most experienced players. After players pointed out that hey were experiencing harder trials, Mandy, Dead by Daylight's Lead Community Manager, announced that the MMR soft cap had been increased. According to Mandy, the increase was put into place a few weeks ago.
"As you can see, it's taken a while for things to even out and become noticeable," she added. "We're always able to make minor tweaks to things and we felt that it was the right time to lift the soft cap."
This will no doubt be conflicting news for the top Dead by Daylight players, who will be able to go up against more opponents of their actual skill level - but this may prove challening for survivors.
"In practice this means players who consistently win games will go against better opponents on average," Dead by Daylight streamer Hens explained on X/Twitter. The streamer posted a video of their experiences with the new soft cap, finding that they were suddenly going up against much more challenging opponents.
DBD Fog Whisperer and streamer Otzdarva pointed out that while the change might be more fair for the "average player," it'll result in consistent 4 kill matches for experienced killers, making the game even more unbalanced than ever. It's far from the first of the streamer's crticisms of the game, as he's pointed out significant balance issues in the past.
