The Oni is arguably one of Dead by Daylight's strongest Killers, given his ability to insta-down Survivors with his power, Yamaoka's Wrath, and his ability to dash around the map with little regard for obstacles. The Oni needs to injure Survivors and suck up their Blood Orbs to power up his power to succeed, so if you're an efficient Survivor player, you can escape trials against even the best Oni players.

Best Counter To The Oni In Dead By Daylight
Don't Get Injured By The Oni
The Oni charges his power with Blood Orbs, which are dropped by injured Survivors. If you don't get injured by The Oni, he'll still passively charge up his power; however, it will take him significantly longer to do so. In other words, you want to prevent The Oni from charging up his power quickly by doing your best to avoid getting injured early in the match. Once he earns his power once, a good Oni player can easily snowball, gaining more subsequent downs in a short amount of time.
Hide, Don't Run, From The Oni
While it's a good idea to start running and make distance the moment you see most Killers rather than wasting time hiding from them, avoiding The Oni doesn't work the same way. He can dash extremely quickly when he has his power, making it not viable to run out in the open or even into many loops.
If you see The Oni running toward you after he has earned his power, don't run - hide. Most Oni players want to make the most of their limited time in Demon Fury, so they will be more likely to quickly dash away from the area, looking for an obvious Survivor working on a generator or cleansing a totem out in the open.
That's all you need to know to counter The Oni from Dead by Daylight, including all of the best tips, tricks, and strategies for your Survivor team. Good luck in the fog!
