One of the most valuable resources in Disney Dreamlight Valley is wood, and it's one you'll need for tons of quests and a massive amount of crafting recipes. Whether you're still in the early game gathering only softwood or need to stock up on dark wood in the late game, there's never a time when having a tree farm is a bad idea.
There's always some level of personal preference in a game like this, but a few trees stand out from the pack when it comes to setting up an efficient tree farm. If you want to reliably and quickly farm wood in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need the best trees.
Best Tree Farm in Disney Dreamlight Valley
While some players may ignore adjusting the landscape of their valley entirely, changing up the trees can be a great way to clear up your line of sight while also speeding up the collection of something you'll always need. The first step of building a tree farm in Disney Dreamlight Valley is going to be clearing space, and some of that is down to your own preference and how you've setup the houses and other buildings in the village.
If you want maximum efficiency, start by removing every single tree in any biome you want a tree farm. Having too many trees will spread out the wood and drastically increase the amount of time it takes you to gather it, and it will not actually increase the amount of wood that drops in each biome at any one time.
When Disney Dreamlight Valley was still in Early Access, one Reddit user identified a few reliable tree choices that continue to work well in the game today. An important thing to note is that tree type does not affect the type of wood that spawns, as that is entirely dictated by the biome it's placed in. As highlighted in the image above, the Wide Boabab Tree and Dead Pine Tree are great choices that don't block your vision too much and spawn a solid amount of wood.
The third, which is actually our preference, is the very small Plaza Tree seen at the bottom left of the screenshot above. It doesn't matter which one you want to go with, but make sure there's enough cleared space around each to allow multiple wood drops to spawn. Each biome can only spawn about 15-20 wood at any one time, so aim for between three and five trees of your choice in each biome.
How long does it take for wood to respawn in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
The exact respawn time for wood in Disney Dreamlight Valley isn't known and likely varies a bit, but it's probably more frequent than you realize. After setting up our tree farm, approximately an hour later about 10 more pieces of Softwood had already spawned.
This timing is going to depend on your layout and could be impacted by how other items like flowers or Night Thorns spawn. If you're farming wood for a project or to stock up, try checking each biome every few hours or simply signing on a few times each day to gather wood.
Best Location for Softwood, Hardwood, Dry Wood, Dark Wood, and Tropical Wood
There are four different types of wood in the standard Disney Dreamlight Valley region, and one more in Eternity Isle which is part of the A Rift in Time DLC. Fortunately, they all have reliable specific biomes where you'll have the best luck at farming the wood quickly.
Softwood is abundant and can spawn in the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor, Glade of Trust, The Docks, The Courtyard, The Overlook, or The Ruins. Of these, we recommend focusing on the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow in the Valley, or using The Docks, The Courtyard, The Overlook, and The Ruins on Eternity Isle. All of these locations exclusively spawn Softwood.
Hardwood is best farmed in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. You'll also get it spawning in the Sunlit Plateau and Frosted Heights, but those areas are your best spawn location for Dry Wood. Dark Wood is the rarest in the valley, and you should make setting up a tree farm the Forgotten Lands a priority as soon as that biome is unlocked.
Lastly, Tropical Wood was added in A Rift in Time. There were some early hiccups with spawning, but things should be working as intended at this point. Tropical Wood is best farmed in The Grasslands, The Promenade, The Grove, and The Lagoon. Make sure to setup new tree farms when you unlock each biome, as Tropical Wood is key in several quests and new crafting recipes.
Players can also purchase Softwood, and occasionally Dry Wood and Hardwood, from Kristoff's Stall depending on the inventory that day. We've got more details here on how to unlock Kristoff's Stall in Disney Dreamlight Valley if you don't have access just yet.
