It was a rocky start to the new year for developer Bend Studio after a live-service game was canceled by Sony in which the studio's community manager Kevin McAllister tweeted that Bend Studio is still intent on "creating cool shit.” While we await what's to come for the developer, Bend Studio confirmed that a remaster for their apocalyptic action title, Days Gone, is coming to PlayStation consoles and PC this year.
The announcement was made recently during the PlayStation State of Play, in which a trailer provided some new improvements, game modes, and features that will be included in this game remaster. There will be some additional content that players can look forward to, as well as pre-order details with some extra goodies.
Deacon St. John gets to ride "across the Broken Road" once again as Bend Studio announces a remaster of the 2019 Days Gone launching on 25th April 2025. According to the PlayStation Blog post from the studio's community manager, Kevin McAllister, pre-orders go live on 13th February 2025 for PlayStation consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam"as a digital-only title" with new content included.
As for the new content included in Days Gone Remastered, new improvements such as graphical fidelity, improved shadow and lighting quality, VRR support, and DualSense controller support, which players can take advantage of. The developer has also expanded their Accessibility features to add controller remapping, UI narrative settings, and High Contrast mode to allow "even more players to enjoy" its world.
A survival arcade mode, Horde Assault, offers players "fresh and unexpected gameplay designed to challenge" their skills by surviving waves of enemies that increase in size while attempting "to achieve a high score" and surviving for as long as possible. A Permadeath mode will also be added in the game remaster, which provides players with the ultimate gaming challenge to explore and complete the game's narrative without letting Deacon St. John die in a single playthrough, and if achieved, a new trophy awaits them in the end.
Additional content included in Days Gone Remastered, like the new speedrunning mode, which challenges players to go against the clock to complete the game's story as fast as possible, will also be included. The developer has also expanded their existing Photo Mode to add new improvements, as players can now set their apocalyptic snaps to any time of the day to get that perfect image.
We've mentioned that Days Gone Remastered goes live with their pre-orders on 13th February 2025, during which they can earn eight new PlayStation Network (PSN) avatars featuring Days Gone characters and five early unlock items. Those with the PS4 version of the game can upgrade to the Remastered edition, including the new content, features, and PS5 enhancements, for $10, while new players can pre-order or purchase the remaster at launch for $49,99.
PC players who own the game can also upgrade to the remastered version through the Broken Road DLC for $10, adding new accessibility features, enhanced Photo Mode, and the Horde Assault, Permadeath, and speedrunning modes. Don't forget, Days Gone Remastered rides out into the uncharted territory of the Pacific Northwest on 25th April 2025 for PS5 and PC and will be available to pre-order soon.
