The MongolZ vs. MOUZ was the first match of the Playoffs Stage, and both squads set the crowd ablaze. Here's how things went down!
The MongolZ vs. MOUZ Match Report
On the first map, The MongolZ pick of Ancient, the squad got off to a brilliant start, with a 9-3 lead in the first half on the T side. This was, in part, due to individual heroics from the likes of Ayush "mzinho" Batbold, who got an exceptional and devasting 3K in the 7th round.
MOUZ pushed back with vigor, closing the gap in the second half, slowly but surely breaking The MongolZ's CT economy and winning several rounds in a row, despite the Mongolian side sitting on match point for quite some time.
MOUZ refused to give up, with IGL Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek scoring a 3K in the 24th round to force overtime for a huge comeback.
The MongolZ then took an early lead in overtime, but MOUZ pushed back yet again to a 14-14 scoreline. In the 30th round on Ancient, MOUZ managed to secure the full comeback, with a 16-14 victory over The MongolZ, stunning the crowd and going up 1-0 in the series.
On MOUZ's map pick of Nuke, The MongolZ once again got off to a strong start, with a 6-0 lead on the CT side before MOUZ got one on the board. Then, MOUZ went on a bit of a T-side rampage, winning three in a row before The MongolZ could retaliate.
At the end of the first half of Nuke, the score was 7-5, with The MongolZ in the lead, which is even or considered slightly in favor of MOUZ due to the CT-sided nature of the map.
On the CT side of Nuke, MOUZ got off to a strong start, winning the Pistol Round and converting to tie up the score 7-7, and extending their lead with another couple of rounds before The MongolZ pulled one back, making the score 9-8 in favor of MOUZ.
Despite the crowd cheering at the top of their lungs and The MongolZ doing their best, MOUZ finished with a final score of 13-9 on Nuke and a 2-0 series.
With the win, MOUZ eliminated The MongolZ from the event. They will now face the winner of Team Spirit vs. Team Liquid on Saturday, 14 December 2024, in the first Semifinals match of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, just one win away from the Grand Final.
