Most Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports fans should know that G2 Esports will be without their IGL, Danish star Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, for IEM Dallas 2024 due to a personal scheduling conflict. While reporting on HooXi's absence at IEM Dallas 2024, we also shared hints that former Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses entry fragger Jake "Stewie2K" Yip would stand in.
Stewie2K and G2 Esports have now confirmed this on social media. Taking to X, Stewie2K thanked the organization for the opportunity in a tweet, stating:
Thanks G2 Esports for the chance to compete and to potentially play in front of a home crowd in IEM Dallas. Grateful for this opportunity and to be able to play with the best rifler in the game G2 NiKo & a young star awper!
Appreciate all the love yall bringing. I’ll see you there Dallas! Let’s have some goddam fun.
The young star AWPer he is referring to is, of course, 19-year-old Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who won the BLAST Premier World Final 2022 with G2 Esports and was awarded the event's MVP.
Even the meme from G2 Esports about Stewie2K standing in is excellent, as you can see below.
IEM Dallas 2024 will run from 27 May to 2 June 2024. We are excited to see how the 100th IEM event plays out and if G2 Esports has a chance at making it to the grand final, considering they are without their IGL, HooXi.
