Spirit Beats FaZe Clan To Secure Perfect World Shanghai Major Win

The Perfect World Shanghai Major was the second-ever Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major Championship, drawing a massive crowd to the venues to watch the best teams in the world compete and over 1.3 million online viewers. It was a beautiful, glorious tournament that featured some of the best CS2 action to date, and Team Spirit lifted the coveted trophy.

The Shanghai Major Playoffs was a brutal affair, filled with incredible highlights and some upsets, as the FaZe Clan squad, led by the legendary Danish IGL, Finn "karrigan" Andersen, performed better than most expected, beating favorites G2 Esports and Team Vitality to get to the Grand Final. On the other side of the bracket, Team Spirit beat Liquid 2-0, and then reverse-swept MOUZ to claim a spot in the grand finale.

Despite good efforts from FaZe Clan's Robin "ropz" Kool, it was Team Spirit's Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets and Boris "magixx" Vorobiev who topped the leaderboards. In fact, Danil "⁠donk⁠" Kryshkovets became the youngest-ever Major MVP at the age of 17 years and 11 months, and also the highest-rated player at a Major, ever, with an HLTV event rating of 1.49!
