FaZe Clan didn't have a great start to the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) competitive year, as they lost Estonian superstar Robin "ropz" Kool to Team Vitality and got knocked out in the first stage of BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1 during Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski's debut.
In IEM Katowice 2025's Group Stage, however, I am seeing hope for recovery as Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men look stronger, more focused, and determined to make it to Spodek Arena for the playoffs.

Yes, the title isn't a typo; FaZe Clan has eliminated G2 Esports from the tournament during the Group Stage, shocking many fans who thought they didn't have a chance against one of the favorites following their recent performances at BLAST Bounty.
Group A has been a bloodbath, with G2 Esports losing 2-0 to Virtus.pro and then clawing their way back in the lower bracket by eliminating Team Falcons and ex-teammate NiKo. FaZe Clan got off to a better start, beating German squad BIG in a close 2-1 match. However, Team Vitality knocked FaZe down to the lower bracket after a thrilling 2-1 series that could have gone either way, with the last map requiring overtime.
When FaZe Clan faced off against G2 Esports in a Group A elimination match, sparks flew right from the get-go. On FaZe's map pick of Ancient, it was too close to call in regulation, with sides scoring six rounds in both halves, requiring overtime. FaZe Clan managed to scrape past G2 with a 16-13 win on Ancient.
FaZe Clan got off to a solid start on G2's map pick (Inferno), going up 8-4 in the first half of play. However, G2 Esports bounced back with vigor to win nine rounds on the CT side against FaZe's two to win the map 13-10.
With Nuke as the decider, FaZe Clan got off to a solid start with a 6-6 first half on the T side. Since the map is considered CT-sided, it was an uphill battle for G2 Esports—one they simply couldn't climb.
Winning seven rounds on the CT side compared to the two of G2 Esports, FaZe Clan eliminated Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's men from IEM Katowice 2025, denying them a spot in the playoffs.
FaZe Clan's David "frozen" Čerňanský topped the scoreboard with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski in a close second place. That means that EliGE is synergizing well with the team, and that, in turn, spells trouble for their opponents.
We'll see FaZe Clan take on the Turkish side (and BLAST Bounty finalists) Eternal Fire on 4 February 2025 for one spot at the IEM Katowice 2025 playoffs on the line. It's going to be an exciting one, so don't miss out!
