Finnish developer Supercell announced that the Clash universe has expanded beyond the realms of mobile gaming. Following its initial announcement weeks prior, the developer revealed the global launch of the free-to-play (F2P) strategy game Clash of Clans and the online multiplayer card game Clash Royale for PC.
The announcement was posted on their official social media channels in which the developer confirmed the Clash games are playable on PC via the Google Play Store. Additionally, the developer will continue to support the games, which launch with mouse support, “optimized graphics, and high-end performance capabilities.”
The developer first announced that Clash of Clans and Clash Royale would be playable on PC via Google Play Store in Beta in early October 2023. Nearly two weeks later, both Clash games are now available to PC players via the Google storefront, currently accessible on Windows PC; however, it isn’t supported for Mac and Linux.
In a statement from Supercell’s General Manager of Clash of Clans, Stuart McGaw, “We want to put our players first in everything we do, and our players have been asking for a way to play on PC. We hope to see many of them use this new way to play Clash and enjoy it even more!”
According to the global launch post, Supercell confirmed that the PC ports for Clash of Clans and Clash Royale will be the same as its mobile counterpart. Players can use their Supercell ID to log into either game on PC, which supports cross-platform play (crossplay), as all game progress will be saved to the linked account.
Supercell concluded the global launch post that their main dream is to position the studio to “create great games that as many people as possible play for years” and thus remembered as such. This pivotal move of bringing two of the most popular mobile games to PC gives players “more ways to play” Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, for which the studio will provide support for both mobile and PC versions.
