If you’ve spent any time in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer, you’re probably all too familiar with the game’s rampant cheating problem. Frustrated players have been vocal about the issue, prompting Activision and Treyarch to respond with a recent ban wave.
This crackdown not only removed a significant number of cheaters but also exposed the top-ranked player as a fraud, leading to their complete removal. Let’s dive into the details.
Black Ops 6 Ban Wave Removes Top Cheater, but More Work Is Expected
During the game's most recent ban wave, over 19,000 cheaters were removed from the leaderboards, including the Ranked Play ladder. Notably, the ban wave ousted a player named "Hanser", who was holding the number-one rank in Ranked Play at the time, and it seems the removal of Hanser was met with mixed reactions.
The #1 ranked player on the Black Ops 6 multiplayer leaderboard “Hanser” has just been banned and had their name removed from the leaderboards.

Still a ton of cheaters on the Top 250 list to go but I guess this is a start at least.
While many players celebrated the anti-cheat system's success in catching high-profile offenders, others expressed frustration with how long these bans are taking. One user on X (formerly Twitter) stated, "Nice, there has been evidence of Hanser using DMA Cheats and Rage Hacking since June 2024. They only needed almost six months to ban him."
Another added, "Removing one rat does not remove the rat problem. They need a better system so the rats don’t form." This reflects the broader issue: while the ban wave was a step in the right direction, it hasn't resolved the underlying problem, with countless cheaters still active.
However, this effort from the developers is a positive move, and many hope it marks the beginning of more robust anti-cheat measures to restore fair play and improve the Black Ops 6 multiplayer experience.
