Crystal holds significant importance in ARK Survival Ascended (ASA), and although you might be aware of specific areas where they spawn, identifying them can be challenging. This is due to their white color and placement in areas like snow, which makes spotting them quite difficult.

Fortunately, the game features a highlighting mechanism for Crystals, making it easier to spot them from a distance, especially when riding a flying tame or exploring with your dino. This guide will demonstrate utilizing this feature to highlight Crystals in the wilderness of ARK Survival Ascended.

Highlighting Crystals rocks, or veins in ARK Survival Ascended is a straightforward process that can be executed on the go using a specific console command. To enable metal highlights, simply utilize the command "r.MaterialQualityLevel 0," resulting in the terrain adopting a dark grey color.

In this visual mode, creatures and patches of green shrubbery will be emphasized, but Crystals (As well as Metal Rocks at times) will contrast against the dark grey backdrop, appearing as a pale white color, as illustrated in the image above. To deactivate this command, a simple adjustment is needed by replacing the "0" in the previous command with a "1," thus becoming "r.MaterialQualityLevel 1." Immediately, you'll observe the increased difficulty in spotting those Crystals or rocks amid the game's vibrant and bright color palette. 

This challenge becomes even more apparent if you're conducting a quick flyby of the area to search for Crystals, a task commonly performed with flying tames for efficient resource collection and transportation back to base. One thing to note is that this feature sadly doesn't work very well underwater, so stick to dry land if you want to make the most out of this command.

That said, this command not only facilitates the assurance of discovering all the Crystals rocks a specific location has to offer, but since they tend to spawn near metal veins, when you know the optimal metal farming locations, you can easily farm tons of both resources at the same time.
