Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a new addition to the legendary Legend of Zelda series, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system. One of the obstacles you’ll encounter in your journey is completing the shrines hidden across the world. These shrines challenge your abilities and reward you with new powers that will aid you in your mission to save Hyrule.
One of the first shrines you’ll come across is the Ukouh Shrine, located in the Great Sky Island region. This shrine gives you the Ultrahand ability — which you get at the beginning — and shows you how to use it. Ultrahand is very similar to the Magnesis ability from Breath of the Wild - but with some key differences.
In this article, we’ll help you find the Ukouh Shrine location and solve the puzzle inside.
The Ukouh Shrine is situated in the northern area of the Great Sky Island region, a land of floating islands and ancient ruins. It’s not far from the Temple of Time, a sacred place where you can pray and upgrade your abilities. You can pinpoint its location on the map at (0275, -0910, 1460). You can access it by completing the Great Sky Island - Find Princess Zelda and The Closed Door quest, which will lead you to the shrine entrance.
Ukouh Shrine Puzzle Solution
First Part
To solve the first section of the shrine, you need to use your Ultrahand ability to manipulate the stone slabs in the room.
To activate Ultrahand, press L on your controller. This will make movable objects glow orange. You can grab an object with A and move it closer or farther with the D-Pad. You can also rotate it horizontally or vertically by holding R. Ultrahand works on most materials that are not alive or fixed to the ground.
Pick up the slab on your right and place it over the first gap to create a bridge. Then, grab another slab and attach it to the end of the first one at a right angle, making a longer bridge. Use this to cross the second gap.
Once you reach the other side, look for a chest on a high platform in the back right corner. You can get to it by using Ultrahand to lift and tilt the bridge you just used, and then placing it against the platform as a ramp. Climb up and open the chest to get a piece of amber.
Second Part
The second section of the shrine requires you to use Ultrahand to make a zip line. First, fuse a hook and a wooden slat together with Ultrahand. Then, hook your contraption onto the wire that spans across the chasm.
Make sure to hook it as close as possible to the pillar that holds the wire. Next, jump onto the wooden slat and ride it across the chasm like a zip line. When you reach the other side, interact with the green sigil to complete the shrine.
Finally, you have completed the Ukouh Shrine puzzle and learned how to use Ultrahand effectively. You can now explore more shrines and secrets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
