Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the next big souls-like title on its way. Thankfully, Team Ninja has carved its own identity within this growing sub-genre, and Wo Long seems to revolutionize it further.
Both souls-like games and Team Ninja's Nioh titles featured asynchronous multiplayer with the option to invite two or three players to play co-operatively. Suffice it to say, Wo Long has more in common with Sekiro than any SoulsBorne title, which was surprisingly a single-player-only title. Does Wo Long fall into the same category, or does it feature some sort of multiplayer component like the studio's predecessors? Read our guide to find out.
Multiplayer in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Explained
Yes, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will feature multiplayer and co-op. Masaaki Yamagiwa, the development producer of the game, confirmed the news via a recent IGN interview.
In Nioh, you could summon a visitor at a shrine by offering a resource called Ochoko Cup. In Wo Long, instead of shrines, there are Battle Flags where you can rest and level up. It's very likely that the option to start co-op will be available via the Battle Flags.
While we do not know how the multiplayer functions, we do know that you can customize the appearance of your Battle Flags for your friends to see when they join your game.
We will update this article with more details on how the multiplayer work once the game launches.
Wo Long: Final Dynasty launches on 3rd March 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Series X/S.
