ESL Premiership, the UK branch of the tournament organiser, is to host a one-off ESL Wild Rift Premiership for Riot Game's mobile MOBA.
The tournament will be open to teams from UK, Ireland, and for the first time for Premiership events, the Nordics and marks an important step as League of Legends: Wild Rift attempts to establish itself as a legitmate esport, especially in western markets.
Two open qualifiers will be held on the 3rd and 4th of April where the eight best teams will earn their place in the tournament proper.
A group stage and playoffs will whittle the teams down further before the finals which will be held on 19-20th June. There is a £5,000 prize and the entire event will be played online.
Speaking on the announcement ESL UK Partnerships Director, Dan Ellis, said:
"It’s a historic moment to bring a mobile title to the ESL Premiership. Wild Rift is the perfect game to deliver this never seen before experience to the UK, Ireland and Nordics."
Those looking to qualify can sign up now, while those keen to follow the action will need to wait until 20th April when ESL will begin broadcasting coverage of the event on their League of Legends Twitch channel.
