Netflix's The Witcher series will change massively in the future, and fans aren't happy about it. The show has been one of the most watched and beloved series across Netflix for the past few years despite only two seasons debuting. While The Witcher Season 3 is on the way and releasing in the Summer of 2023, the show has already been renewed for a fourth season.
However, unfortunately, it won't feature Henry Cavill playing the role of Geralt of Rivia. Instead, the show's lead role will be played by Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher Season 4. Although the series will supposedly remain true to Andrzej Sapkowski's best-selling books, fans couldn't be more disappointed that the journey won't continue with Henry Cavill's impeccable performance as Geralt.
Liam Hemsworth Is The New Geralt Of Rivia In The Witcher: Season 4
The world is shocked by this announcement, as it's truly saddening to see Henry Cavill lay down his sword as the Geralt of Rivia. However, at the same time, many are also happy to know that The Witcher has been renewed for a fourth season. So altogether, it's pretty bittersweet for everyone.

The news came after Netflix posted the announcement on 30th October 2022 via Netflix Tudum. In this announcement, Netflix stated that Henry Cavill would be handing over the role of Geralt of Rivia to Liam Hemsworth to continue The Witcher series through Season 4.
The supposed reason behind this decision is that Henry Cavill will be starring in other DC Films in the future, which interferes with the casting and filming of The Witcher Season 4.
After Henry Cavill was teased in Black Adam, the actor revealed on 24th October 2022 via Instagram that he'd return to the DC universe as Superman.
It’s official: The Witcher is returning for Season 4, and Henry Cavill will be handing his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. Welcome to the Witcher family, @LiamHemsworth!

In a statement on 29th October 2022 via Instagram, both Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth addressed the recasting for The Witcher Season 4 and some saddening farewells to fans. "My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf," Cavill said.
"As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him; enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find," he added.
In addition, Liam Hemsworth seemed particularly excited on Instagram about taking up the "mantle of the White Wolf" and acting in The Witcher Season 4. The actor said, "As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure."
Following this announcement, practically the entire world was in disarray over the recasting of The Witcher series. One of the most talked-about reasons was that Netflix's The Witcher series was built around Henry Cavill's impeccable performance, devotion, and personality.
What a freaking turn off! Just end the series then. What happened to Henry Cavill's so-called burning desire to portray Geralt of Rivia?

Netflix's version of The Witcher universe was created through much of the actor himself, and without it, the series feels like it might lose everything that made it so special.
Nothing against Liam, but the passion Henry had for this role, and for The Witcher as a whole was unmatched. This is extremely unfortunate. Hopefully he reprises the role in the future.

Admittedly, there's nothing particularly wrong about Liam Hemsworth playing Geralt of Rivia. Still, it's more so the world has developed and rode alongside Henry Cavill and his tumultuous and seemingly unending journey as the famed The Witcher character.
Although Liam Hemsworth might do a superb job of playing Geralt of Rivia, the series will arguably cease to be what it originally was—for there's truly no substitute or equal when it comes to Henry Cavill's performance as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's series, The Witcher.
