At the end of the forest in The Plucky Squire, Jot will face off against a big bug in a boss battle - but thankfully, he's got Alowynia's Elven Bow to help him out. This fight is a lot more difficult than previous ones and you won't have Page's help this time, so it can take a few tries. Here's the best strategy to defeat the Big Bug boss.
How To Defeat The Big Bug Boss
You'll face up against the Big Bug using the Elven Bow, which you can charge up to shoot. To start out, you'll want to shoot the big bug with as many charged shots as you can. Charging up allows for a more powerful attack, but it takes some time.
After some time, the boss will begin sending out smaller bugs. He has two attacks - one of them sends out large bugs that come towards you slowly, while the other sends out smaller bugs that approach more quickly.
For the smaller bugs, you'll want to shoot them down with quick, non-charged shots. They'll go down immediately. Throughout this fight, we recommend turning your sensitivity up to 100% - moving your reticule is a bit difficult with the lower sensitivity, and may make it hard to hit these faster bugs.
For the larger bugs, you'll want to slow down a bit and make sure you charge up your shots before hitting. Alternatively, you can hit the big bugs with two non-charged shots each - but this takes some time, and they may be able to attack you before you're able to get all of those shots in. Jot can take a few hits, but will be out of commission if he takes more than 8.
Between the waves of small bugs and big bugs, continue sending out your charged shots to hit the boss. You'll be able to see their health in the bottom right; it'll go down with every successful hit, with charged shots dealing more damage.
Once you've successfully taken down the big bug boss, he'll fall to the ground and Jot will declare his victory! You're now completely done with this chapter and area, so give yourself a pat on the back. Jot will return the Elven Bow to where he got it from, and will continue on his journey using his sword as a weapon.
