As you play The Plucky Squire, you'll face harder foes and explore new environments in each chapter. But to take down these more difficult opponents, you'll also need some improved sword skills and upgrades. Here are all the Sword Skills in The Plucky Squire, as well as what upgrades you can get for them.
All Sword Skills In The Plucky Squire
You can get all Sword Skills by purchasing them from the merchant. Each time you talk to the merchant in a new area, they'll offer you some new skills and/or upgrades for Jot. To get these upgrades, you'll need to purchase them with Light Bulbs. There are two upgrades for every Sword Skill, including Jot's basic one.
Here's every Sword Skill and upgrade in The Plucky Squire, and how much it costs:
- Sword Attack - This is your basic attack, and the only one you won't need to purchase. It's a simple forward stab in any direction.
- Damage Upgrade 1 - This increases the amount of damage you'll inflict, and applies for all attacks.
- Damage Upgrade 2 - Further increases your damage across all attacks.
- Jump Attack - Available for 200 Bulbs. Using this ability, you can jump and then slam your sword into the ground, creating an area of attack around the impact.
- Upgrade 1 - This upgrade increases the area of attack.
- Upgrade 2 - This further increases the area of attack.
- Spin Attack - Available for 150 Bulbs. As its name implies, this skill will have you spinning around with your sword, rapidly slicing anything nearby. Your blade can even cut through multiple enemies at the same time.
- Upgrade 1 - Available for 60 Bulbs. After getting this upgrade, Jot will spin twice after charging up.
- Upgrade 2 - This upgrade further improves the quality of your spin attack.
- Sword Throw - Available for 30 Bulbs. This attack functions like a boomerang, allowing you to toss your sword at enemies and have it come right back at you. This is the first attack you'll be able to purchase from the merchant and is by far the cheapest.
- Upgrade 1 - Available for 60 Bulbs. This upgrade lets you hit multiple enemies with one throw.
- Upgrade 2 - Available for 80 Bulbs. This upgrade allows you to throw your sword further.
Different Sword Skills are appropriate in different situations, and different players might prefer different ones. However, you'll likely want to get all of them from the merchant as soon as you can. This way, you can have a large arsenal of tools to pick from when you go up against opponents that may require the use of some more niche approaches. The same goes for upgrades; buying them can only benefit you and is definitely the best decision.
