When you're ejected out of the storybook as The Plucky Squire, you'll end up on Sam's desk and will need to avoid his pet beetles to survive. This is a pretty dangerous task, but thankfully, Jot can make it out alive with some careful strategizing, puzzle-solving and platforming. Here's how to stay away from the beetles as Jot and stay alive in The Plucky Squire.
How To Avoid The Beetles
To avoid the beetles in Sam's room, you'll need to carefully sneak around them. The beetles are attracted to fast movements and noise, so using the sneak command as much as possible will really come to your benefit.
You can use the paint bottles and other obstacles to block the beetles' line of sight and stay safe. Getting up on platforms and higher areas when possible is also a good way to avoid the beetles, since they can't climb up after you.
However, there are some benefits to not sneaking at some parts. Once you're nearing the end and need to climb up on the ledge, you may want to make a run for it towards the finish if the beetle isn't already too close. While beetles can run pretty fast once they hear sound, they can't get you once you start climbing the ledge.
It's also worth noting that beetles can't get you when you're in the storybook. In other words, if there's an area where you can be in the storybook near the beetles, do so - this prevents them from getting you entirely, and often the storybook bits lead you to other areas of Sam's room.
Once you've gotten past the beetles, you'll be able to head back into The Plucky Squire storybook and continue on your adventure with your friends. Don't worry if you struggle a bit - dying won't set you back too far, and there are even checkpoints between each section of beetles. While avoiding these pesky insects is one of Jot's more difficult challenges, you'll be able to do it with some patience and determination.
