The next stage on the Teamfight Tactics: Reckoning cycle will be brighter now that new traits and champions will be added into the game’s formula, as the players will see the debut of some of the most awaited units into the autobattler, as part of the Dawn of Heroes expansion.
As the Sentinels of Light have finally shown up to the battle in every single game from the League of Legends universe, their arrival into TFT will have a significant impact as three new traits will be featured during this update, adding a dozen of champions which will shake up the metagame from its roots.
So, let’s take a look at every trait and champion who will appear as part of the TFT: Reckoning - Dawn of Heroes new expansion.
Sentinels
The biggest introduction of the expansion will come with the debut of the Sentinels, featuring units like Lucian and Senna among them but most importantly, Akshan, the Lost Sentinel who will also make its first appearance in League of Legends during the next few patches.
At the start of the combat, the Sentinel with the highest HP will gain a shield that grants Attack Speed each time it is applied. When the shield is destroyed or expires, it will pass to the ally with the lowest percent HP. The Sentinels effect will feature three tiers divided into 3, 6, and 9 champions.
All units listed as part of the Sentinels includes the following:
- Olaf: Tier 1 Skirmisher
- Senna: Tier 1 Cannoneer
- Irelia: Tier 2 Legionnaire and Skirmisher
- Pyke: Tier 2 Assassin
- Rakan: Tier 3 Renewer
- Galio: Tier 4 Draconic and Knight
- Lucian: Tier 4 Cannoneer
- Akshan: Tier 5 Ranger
Cannoneers
The Cannoneers are the second trait featured as part of Dawn of Heroes, bringing powerful units that can rival the Rangers and tanky compositions thanks to their strong attacks and high-impact skill.
Every fifth Cannoneer attack will be replaced with a cannon shot that deals a percent of that attack’s damage in an explosion around the target as physical damage.
There are a total of four units that will be part of this new trait:
- Senna: Tier 1 Sentinel
- Tristana: Tier 2 Hellion
- Miss Fortune: Tier 3 Forgotten
- Lucian: Tier 4 Sentinel
Inanimate
This trait features only a single champion, being none other than Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress. Gwen will be a Tier 5 Mystic unit with a repertoire that will protect and heal all of your units from the beginning of the match, making her the ultimate support champion in the Reckoning set.
At the start of the combat, Inanimate champions will summon the Harrowing Mist in the two hexes surrounding them for a few seconds, granting all allies within damage reduction from enemies outside the mist.
As for Gwen's skill, she will rush behind her target and slice into a cone in front of her twice, dealing magic damage while healing herself for some of the damage done. If only one enemy is hit, Gwen will cut one more time for the remainder of the fight.
Victorious
After winning the battle of the God-Kings against Darius, Garen will receive a major change in his traits moving on from being a God-King, to become the one and only Victorious champion.
As a Victorious, whenever he scores a kill, his next attack will be empowered to deal 40% of the target’s missing HP as bonus magic damage.
Akshan
Let’s make a stop right here and talk about Akshan, as he will be the other 5-star unit joining TFT in Dawn of Heroes. As we have found during its development process in League of Legends, the Lost Sentinel will be a marksman champion with great mobility abilities, which will also be reflected in TFT.
Thanks to his skill, Akshan will roll to the nearest end of the battlefield, shooting his grappling hook at the centre before becoming untargetable and heroically swing in a circle. While swinging, he will continuously fire at nearby enemies, with each shot dealing Physical Damage based on his Attack Damage and reducing Armor for five seconds.
With his Sentinel trait, he will receive the protection of its passive shield making him a more viable unit for the late game if you got the best comp to exploit this, and if you combine it with his Ranger bonuses and good AD items, Akshan can become an incredible champion exploding others while jumping around the battlefield.
Champions and traits removed (+ other changes)
As the Black Mist starts to lose power around the Convergence with the help of the Sentinels and the reconstruction of the Skyglass, lots of traits and champions will receive major updates into the game, being both modified or removed from TFT to make room for the new heroes arriving.
With this, a total of 5 traits and 13 champions will no longer be appear in the Reckoning set:
- Abomination: Ryze
- Coven: Lissandra, LeBlanc, and Morgana
- Dragonslayer: Trundle, Pantheon, and Mordekaiser
- Eternal: Kindred
- Forgotten: Warwick, Viktor, and Katarina
- Verdant: Taric
- God-King: Darius
Also, four champions will have changes in their traits, due to the retirement of the aforementioned, so they will continue to be part of the game in this set:
- Diana: Dragonslayer → Assassin
- Ashe: Loses Verdant trait, remains as Draconic/Ranger
- Kayle: Loses Verdant trait, remains as Redeemed/Legionnaire
- Garen: God-King → Victorious
And that’s all we got to share with you about the new champions and traits that will arrive as part of the Dawn of Heroes expansion, which will be available on 21st July 2021.
