Escape from Tarkov "The Extortionist" Quest - How To Complete

Escape from Tarkov provides many adventures, one of the first being Skier's task, The Extortionist. Players are sent to the desolate lands of Customs and expected to run around the map looking for a Secure Folder device, before finding it, several instructions must be followed by the player to locate the device. Finally, after completing all the "find in-raid" tasks, players are awarded Skiers grace, being handed an exciting and fun task at level seven. 

Within this task, players are expected to complete the following:

• Obtain the hidden valuable cargo on Customs
  • (Optional) Locate the messenger's body
  • (Optional) Find the place where the messenger hid the cargo
• Hand over the valuable cargo to Skier

Despite saying "optional" players are going to have to complete these tasks unless they already obtain the "unknown key" which is found in the bush on a dead scav near RUAF Roadblock extract on Customs. Additionally, all players will have to find where the messenger hid the cargo because that's where you will find it!

How To Complete The Extortionist Quest In Escape from Tarkov

To complete the task I'd recommend bringing in a trustworthy weapon, something that's capable of dealing with PMCs, Scavs, and player scavs. This is due to the fact you'll be running through popular areas within the Customs district and you will engage enemies. Hopefully, you decide to bring some armor to protect yourself and the cargo from damage. 

Firstly, you're going to want to obtain the "unknown key" found on the Dead Scav by the RUAF roadblock. The scav is specifically located in a bush near the hole in the wall leading to the "crack den" in the Customs expansion. To find the key, simply loot the scav and the key will appear, if it doesn't appear, someone has taken it and you need to re-enter another raid. 

Once obtaining the key, make your way over to the cabin through the safest route possible, my recommendation would be through the outskirts of the expansion, to the old gas station, then to the cabin, you will meet scavs along the way through. Once reaching the cabin, unlock it using the key and begin searching the cabin for the secure folder Skier discussed. The secure folder is directly in front of the door located inside the yellow jacket on the floor, you will see a prompt appear to pick it up once looking directly at it.

After obtaining the secure folder, you need to survive and extract safely. Once extracting you're going to hand over the item to Skier, completing the task successfully!

  • 525 Dollars with Intelligence Center Level 1
  • 575 Dollars with Intelligence Center Level 2
• 1× Molot VPO-209 .366 TKM carbine
• 3× AK 7.62x39 30-round magazine (issued '55 or later)
• 120× .366 TKM EKO
• 1x BNTI Zhuk-3 body armor (Press)
• Unlocks purchase of Remington Model 870 12ga pump-action shotgun at Skier LL1

The rewards for this task are worth the trouble of this task, although fun, this task can become frustrating if you're completing this task early wipe. However, you'll be even more depressed to hear that this task leads to finding two secure flash drives in-raid, have fun!
